Phoenix

By Coco, age 12 1/2

Burning phoenix, bright as the stars,
Rising phoenix, from the ashes dark,
Dying phoenix, returning ashes and coals,
Dancing phoenix, as the fire's light,
Flying phoenix, soaring so high,
And you, nightborn phoenix of the moon,
I sing for you, Rathor, phoenix of the moon,
I sing for you, phoenix of the moon.

Night of fire, killing hope, killing dreams,
The only escape, the power of the moon,
But the moon opposes the sun, and thus,
My love, we must now go our seperate ways,
Forevermore, we are seperate, forevermore,
Until the day that the moon and the sun combine,
We must go our seperate ways, forevermore,
We must go our seperate ways.

Oh my dark one, Rathor, my love,
Night has come once more, and I must rest,
As you rise, in the darkness of night,
To glimpse me, at dusk, dawn and in the twilight,
Sunrise, moonset, sunset and moonrise,
A neverending cycle of life and death,
And one that shall bring us together again,
It shall bring us together again.

End of life, beginning of death,
The reverse is true as well,
The circle of life that took you away,
Shall bring you back again,
As a phoenix rises from the ashes,
Over, and over, again,
And now we stand together,
Forevermore.
