Starts on the Date/Time - Jan 30 2015 - 10:15 am - 11:15 am
This brief introduction to chemistry will cover the structure and properties of atoms, how they combine with other atoms to form molecules, and how molecules react with each other to form other molecules. We will cover stoichiometry briefly, as well as acid-base reactions, thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry. Although this isn’t a full year of high school chemistry, after taking this class, students should be able to tackle a full year of AP chemistry (or a college chemistry class) without too much trouble. Expect weekly homework and several labs.
Prerequisite: Should have covered basic algebra (being able to solve for x in equations of form a + bx=c + dx) and exponents in math
Time: Friday 10:15-11:15 am Pacific/1:15-2pm Eastern.
Weekly. January 27-May 22. Spring Break TBA.
Instructor Robin Schneider 5-10 students
